DIVYA PRERNA FOUNDATION is a Public Charitable Trust, based in Chennai, established on the 15th July 2011. DPF attempts to promote - sustainable living, in harmony with nature, along with the enrichment of the body, mind & intellect, helping to seek spiritual enlightenment by Divine Inspiration..
As a part of our Mission for Sustainable Living, we donate & install Solar Powered Systems in Public Access locations, to demonstrate & promote the use of renewable energy systems.
DPF is proud to Inaugurate its 19th Project (P-19), the FIRST SOLAR LIFE SKILLS SUPPORT PROJECT, in Theroor Village, near Nagercoil, Kanyakumari District, TN, for NGO “Manitham Thedi”
Based on the request letter dt 13 June 2019, from the Manitham Thedi Charitable Trust, Theroor, SELCO was requested to inspect & give a Project Proposal for Solar Operated Sewing Centre.
THE proposal from SELCO dt 09 July.2019, with project estimate of Rs 77,000 was approved for execution by SELCO.
The Solar Sewing Centre system has 4 components – (1) 2 Solar Modules each of 75 Wp with Module Mounting System mounted on the Terrace, (2) Battery of 150 Ah capacity (3) Charge Regulator 30 Amps for charging the Battery (CR SSR) and 4) PMDC Motor 60W, 12V DC with accessories like Dynaflux also with PWM Motor, pulley, Belt etc, to drive the Sewing Machine. This set was for running 3 Sewing Machines, and another Solar Panel of 100 Wp with associated components for running another 2 Machines, totaling 5 Solar Sewing Machines in the Centre.
The Supply, Installation & Commissioning of the System was successfully completed by end Aug 2019.The NGO “Manitham Thedi” organized a formal Inaugural Function on 26 Sep 2019, in their premises, and invited us. The function was attended by DPF Managing Trustee V.Partha Sarathy with his wife. SELCO SOLAR was represented by Mr.Nambirajan.
The SOLAR SEWING CENTRE was inaugurated by DPF Managing Trustee, and other Guests lighting the Kuthu Vilakku. The Sewing operations were inaugurated by Smt Nalini ParthaSarathy, pressing the pedal switching on the PMDC Motor.

Ms Ambika welcomed the Invited Guests & the gathering of her NGO, the Village Elders & the ladies working on the Sewing Centre. She explained the origin & activities of “Manitham Thedi”, introduced other Trustees. The Sewing Centre project provides Training to village ladies in sewing of cloth bags etc and Livelihood to village women. With the banning of Plastics the demand for cloth bags are high & the bulk orders are collected by the NGO and channelized for execution through these women .She thanked DPF for the magnificent gesture to provide “Manitham Thedi” with this Solar Sewing Centre.
DPF Managing Trustee, in his Inaugural address, explained the origin, activities & Missions of Divya Prerna Foundation, and that DPF is very happy to provide Livelihood Support to village women through Manitham Thedi”
Ms Anusha Kumari, HeadMaster of the Kasturbai Middle School in Theroor & an Invited Guest addressed the audience and spoke appreciatively of the initiatives of the young persons in the NGO, who were also past students of the School.
The Sewing Operations was inaugurated by Mrs Nalini ParthaSarathy, pressing the pedal to start the Sewing Machine motor. Within a few minutes one of the women operating the machines, stitched a nice cloth bag & presented it to her, much to her pleasant surprise!.
The tailoring women of the Centre, in their feedback thanked Divya Prerna Foundation & were all praise for establishing this Solar Sewing Centre, as their operations have become very smooth & output has increased 2 to 3 times
After this nice Inaugural function, Trustees of “Manitham Thedi” took the team to visit the Organic Store being run by them in the same premises..The new initiative of Divya Prerna appears very fruitful & satisfying!
