Inauguration of Public Solar Lighting System in Joy Bhavan, Tirunelveli PSLS

DIVYA PRERNA FOUNDATION is a Public Charitable Trust, based in Chennai, established on the 15th July 2011. DPF attempts to promote - sustainable living, in harmony with nature, along with the enrichment of the body, mind intellect, helping to seek spiritual enlightenment by Divine Inspiration..
As a part of our Mission for Sustainable Living, we donate install Solar Lighting Systems in Public Access locations, to demonstrate promote the use of renewable energy systems.
DPF is proud to Inaugurate its 14th Project today, in JOY BHAVAN Girls Orphanage, run by the Congregation of the Sisters of the Immaculate Conception, TIRUNELVELI, TamilNadu.
There was a letter dt 24 Aug 2017 from Sister Margaret Mary, Provincial of C.I.C Sister Arul Jothi, Warden of Joy Bhavan Illam, requesting fora Solar Lighting System in their Orphanage, to ensure reliable lighting for the students to study, in view of the frequent power failures.. On DPF request SELCO SOLAR team, under Mr Nambi Rajan, Senior Manager, TN, based in Madurai, visited Joy Bhavan after inspection, prepared a Project Proposal dt 26 Sept 2017 sent to DPF.
The Proposal was examined by DPF modified suitably to cover both the study rooms of the students,. The revised Proposal was approved for procurement. And DPF issued the orders for supply, Installation Testing and Commissioning to SELCO SOLAR, on 05 Oct 2017. SELCO procured the equipments successfully commissioned the system on 25th Nov 2017.
The system consists of 3 Solar Modules each of (60Wp x 12V) one Battery Bank of 180AHr, one Charge Regulator (15A/12V) and total of 9 LED Lights 2 X 5W LED Tube lights and 7 X 10W tube lights for the two study rooms. 4 Nos of Portable LED Solar Table Lanterns were also ordered for distribution to students for facilitating their movements in the campus at night, as also for study in their hostel rooms.
Warden Coordinator of Joy Bhavan organized a formal Inaugural function for the system on 10th Jan, 2018, in their premises and invited DPF SELCO to participate. Managing Trustee V.ParthaSarathy, participated along with his wife daughter as the other Trustees could not travel.

After Sr Arul Jothi, Warden welcomed the gathering, Sr Margaret Mary, Provincial, C.I.C gave the Presidential address. Sister lauded the generous contribution of DPF exhorted the students to study well using the facilities & become good citizens of India.
V.ParthaSarathy, Managing Trustee, DPF in his Inaugural address explained the origin of the Trust its activities. He displayed Rajaji book Thozhamai Yogam and narrated the life story of Brother Lawrence of France, who though had to perform menial tasks in the monastery, did it cheerfully as an offering to God. He lived the life as ordained by Shri Krishna in Shrimad Bhagavad Geetha rose to great heights.

Mr Nambirajan, SELCO Solar, explained the features of the Solar System & demonstrated the use of the the Portable Solar Table Lantern. 4 such lanterns were presented to Senior students to help them study diligently for the Board examinations.
Prof.Dr Henry Joseph of St Xavier college (Retd) actively associated with Joy Bhavan spoke on the occasion, about the need for the children to utilize opportunities and work with dedication to come up in life & narrated his own life experiences.
Mr Thirumalai Murugan, President of Lion’s Club of Tirunelveli Green City, addressed the gathering after presenting an Award to SELCO SOLAR for the “Best Service Organisation” of 2017. This was received by Mr Nambirajan on behalf of his company. Mr Murugan advised the students to fight pollution & to study well making good use of all facilities being offered to them.
Mr Nala Chandrasekaran and Mr R.Sudalaimuthu distinguished guests handling welfare activities in the District were felicitated.
