Inauguration of Public Solar Lighting System in SHRIRAM NAGAR P.U.Primary School, Genguvarpatti, THENi District, T.N PROJECT P-08 19th November, 2014
DIVYA PRERNA FOUNDATION is a Public Charitable Trust, based in Chennai, established on the 15th July 2011. DPF attempts to promote spiritual enlightenment of society by seeking Divine Inspiration, through right living in harmony with nature, and by enrichment of the body, mind, and intellect.
As a part of our Mission for Sustainable Living, we set-up & promote Solar Lighting Systems in Public Access locations, to demonstrate & promote the use of renewable energy systems.
In the short period of about 3 years DPF has established EIGHT Public Solar Lighting Projects in different parts of TamilNadu, and is proud to Inaugurate the 8th Project today, in the Shriram Nagar Panchayath Union Primary School, in Priyakulam Taluk, THENI District.
After setting up the Trust in July 2011, in the remaining period of the first FY 2011-12, DPF commissioned 2 Solar Lighting projects in Dec 2011 in Kancheepuram District – First in the Pugazhendi Pulavar TN Govt Higher Secondary school,and, the other in the ancientLakshmiNarasimhaswamiTemple, both in village “Pon Vilaintha Kalathur”, about 80 kms from Chennai.
DPF was granted registration as a Public Trust & exemption by DIT for donations to the Trust u/s 80G on 25th April 2012.
The Trust executed 2 Solar Lighting Projects projects in 2012-13, FIRST one in the Chinmaya Organisation for Rural Development - CORD Medical cum Community center in Thennamanallur Village in Siruvani near Coimbatore (26 APR 2012), and the other in a Tribal Village School in Siruvattukkaadu in Kodaikanal Hills (07 FEB 2013).
The FY 2013-14 saw the Trust executing 2 Solar Lighting projects in Kodai & Madurai – FIRST one in another Tribal Village School in Kallakkinaru in Kodaikanal Hills (19 DEC 2013), and the other in the ancient Eswaran Temple in Vilacheri in suburban Madurai (27 FEB 2014)..
In this FY 2014-15, so far we have commissioned 2 Solar Lighting projects – FIRST one in the Shrirama Temple in Vilacheri, Madurai (21 AUG 2014), and the other in the Shriram Nagar P.U Primary School, being inaugurated today (19 NOV 2014).

The Theni District School Project provides for 10 Indoor Lights for the classrooms, and 1 Outdoor timer actuated powerful lamp to light up the access to the toilets, with a Solar Module, associated Battery & charging arrangements. |
The inaugural function in the Shriramnagar school was well attended by the village elders, Headmasters of nearby schools, Addl Deputy Primary Education Officer Tmt M.Thilakavathi, Councillor representing the area, etc. Tmt Lakshmi, the Headmistress welcomed the Guests & the participants, after the Tree Planting by the Trustees & the APEO, in the School garden to commemorate the occasion.
Trustee Shri S.G.Subramanian, and Managing Trustee of DPF Shri .V.ParthaSarathy addressed the gathering. Shri ParthaSarathy, explained the objectives of Divya Prerna, and the activities & achievements. He also explained the need for human beings to live for the welfare of others & not only for their selfish experience. He quoted from Shrimad Bhagavad Geetha, Thirukkural & Kaviarasar Kannadasan’s song to exhort the students to live so as to realise divinity in this life itself, proclaimed by Swami Vivekananda, as the real objective of human life.

DPF has selected & partnered with SELCO SOLAR of BG, all these years, and the partnership has been highly fruitful, and DPF is happy with the engineering & execution skills of SELCO, combined with economy.
Divya Prerna has also concentrated on its other Mission on“Publications” and has brought out 2 books first in the Series of “Eternal Truths” and “Great Masters” in April 2013. The books “Panchajanyam Beckons” – the Essence of Shrimad Bhagavad Geetha by V.Partha Sarathy, the Founder & Managing Trustee of DPF, and, “Shirdi SaiBaba” by S.G.Subramanian, Trustee, were launched on the 18th April 2013, in Chennai, as a part of Swami Vivekananda’s 150th anniversary celebrations, by Swami Atmashraddhananda of Shri Ramakrishna Mutt, Chennai, who is also the Editor of “Vedanta Kesari” the Mutt journal, started originally by Swami Vivekananda. Both the books have been well received.
The HeadMasters of nearby schools, talked of the benefits of Solar Lighting system, and appreciated the role of DPF. The HM of the school in Kallakkinaru in Kodai hills, where a Solar Project of Divya Prerna has been commissioned talked of its immense benefit to the tribal village.
Shri Ananthan teacher of the school gave Vote of Thanks & the children also presented an artifact to DIVYA PRERNA, as a token of their gratitude, which was gracefully accepted by the Trustees of Divya Prerna Foundation.
