On the evening of 18th April 2012, two books
- “Panchajanyam Beckons” on the Essence of Shrimad Bhagavad Geetha, written by Shri V Partha Sarathy, Founder of Divya Prerna Foundation, and
- “Shirdi Sai Baba”, written by Shri S.G.Subramanian, Trustee, DPF,
were launched in an auspicious function at “Dakshinamoorthi Auditorium” in P.S.Higher Secondary School, R.K.Mutt Road, Mylapore.
The Chief Guest Poojya Swami Atmashraddhananda, Editor “Vedanta Kesari”, Shri Ramakrishna Math & Mission, Chennai launched the book “Panchajanyam Beckons”.
Smt M.Malini, the Head Mistress of the School was the other distinguished Guest who released the book on “Shirdi Sai Baba”.
Shri C.R.Narasimhan, Trustee, DPF welcomed the gathering. He stressed the need for inculcating spiritual values in society, citing the example of a recent incident on the Jaipur Highway. He also requested Swamiji to accept this Book Launch event as a part of the 150th Anniversary Celebrations of Swami Vivekananda & Swamiji readily agreed.
Shri V Partha Sarathy Managing Trustee, DPF, in his address, spoke about the aims and activities of Divya Prerna Foundation which was founded on the 15th July 2011. DPF has been providing solar lights in Public Access locations like schools, medical centers & temples, and, promoting Nature sustainable living. He showed the visuals of the Projects benefiting the community.
He spoke about the next Mission of DPF -“Publications” to bring out books on “Eternal truths” & on “Great Masters”. He requested the youth to study books, to develop powers of memory & concentration, as unfortunately, with information explosion on the Internet, the reading of books is given up in favour of Google Search.
He remarked that the book “Panchajanyam Beckons” on Shrimad Bhagavad Geetha is written as merely a “ Sadhaka”, an aspirant, seeking the way to become a “Siddha”, an accomplished person. He stated that Ramakrishna Math’s Mission “For self realisation & the welfare of the world” is also the message of the Geetha & it teaches you to realize the splendor of your soul, while working for the welfare of the world. He also spoke about the book on Shirdi Sai Baba, an extraordinary saint, who performed many miracles out of compassion for his devotees.
Swamiji launched the Book “Panchajanyam Beckons” and the first copy was received by Smt Malini, HM. This was followed by launch of the Book “Shirdi Sai Baba” by Smt Malini, HM, and the first copy presented to Shri Narasimhan. Swamiji distributed both the books as gifts from DPF to about 20 students of the School.
Swamiji, then addressed the audience, with an eloquent exposition of the relevance of the Geetha in the modern times. He stressed that ethical values have to be taught right from childhood, and meditation can calm the turbulent mind of the modern man. He said that Shri Krishna has explained in detail in Chapter 2 as to how thoughts and consequent desire for material things develops into anger, when obstacles are faced in fulfilling the desire, and, how anger creates delusion, followed by confused memory, leading to loss of discrimination, and his actions in such a state, leads the man to his own destruction.
Swamiji also remarked that Shrimad Bhagavad Geetha has been translated into all the major languages of the world because of its universal appeal, teaching eternal truths & the right way of life. If all the books on the Geetha in various languages were to be collected & stored in a library, it would be a huge edifice. Yet, each new book is important as every student finds light in his own way from this Scripture Universal. Geetha calls upon man to act dispassionately, dedicating the fruits of action to the Lord, and thus acting in a spirit of sacrifice, he can realize the potential of his soul, and get immense peace.
After his address, Swamiji also interacted with the audience, providing excellent insight into “right action”.
Shri S.G.Subramanian, Trustee, proposed Vote of Thanks, and the functionconcluded with the National Anthem.
