Inauguration of the FIRST Solar SMART Classroom Project of DPF, in KOPANERI, COIMBATORE

DIVYA PRERNA FOUNDATION is a Public Charitable Trust, based in Chennai, established on the 15th July 2011. DPF attempts to promote - sustainable living, in harmony with nature, along with the enrichment of the body, mind & intellect, helping to seek spiritual enlightenment by Divine Inspiration..
As a part of our Mission for Sustainable Living, we donate & install Solar Powered Systems in Public Access locations, to demonstrate & promote the use of renewable energy systems.
DPF is proud to Inaugurate its 16th Project today, and the FIRST SMART Classroom Project, in the Panchayat Union Middle School, KOPANERI, COIMBATORE District, TamilNadu.
Tmt M.Parimala, Headmistress of Panchayat Union Middle School, (PUMS) KOPANARI, Karamadai Union, Coimbatore District vide letter dated 1st Feb 2018, to DPF Managing Trustee, requested for a SMART CLASSROOM System for their Tribal School, located on Anaikatti Hills range about 40 kms from Coimbatore city.
SELCO SOLAR BG, has partnered with DPF for the past 7 years and have engineered & installed 15 solar lighting systems for DPF, in different Public Access locations all over TamilNadu..They have recently ventured into Solar Powered SMART Classrooms for Schools in Karnataka & opened their FIRST Project in Tamil Nadu in Kanyakumari.
According to E-Shaalaa Project Proposal of SELCO, they bear 50% of the Cost of the LED TV & SMART Class Software. After evaluating the Proposal, DPF agreed to partner with SELCO for the SMART Classroom System for KOPANERI, and placed an order on SELCO on 27th April 2018. SELCO procured the equipments & successfully commissioned the system on 14th June 2018.
The SMART Classroom system consists of a Flat Screen wall mounted LED TV panel as a Computer Terminal interface with associated Android device & 32GB SD card + a Wireless Mouse. This computer system is powered by a Solar System, with Solar Modules of 120Wp - 2 Solar Modules each of (60Wp x 12V) & one Battery Bank of 80AHr, one Charge Regulator (10A/12V). The Course content CLT is offered as Software fed into the memory.
The course content is developed to impart lessons as per the TamilNadu Government approved syllabus for Primary schools & the Course modules are also authorized by TN Government. These are given to the school in the form of Licensed Software. One set of Licenses are for 3 Grades. There is also a provision in the contact for Training of the Teachers to conduct the classes using the SMART system facility.
The HM of the school, along with the ADI (Adivasis Development Initiative) Federation of Coimbatore organized a formal Inaugural function for the system on 7th July, 2018, in the school premises and invited DPF & SELCO to participate. Managing Trustee V.ParthaSarathy, along with his wife attended the function & SELCO was represented by Mr Nambirajan, Senior Manager, TN operations & Mr Vignesh, newly appointed Senior Manager for Coimbatore Region.

Smt M.Parimala, School Head Mistress welcomed all the members of the audience, invited guests from DPF, SELCO, the parents & villagers, office bearers of ADI Federation etc. She thanked Divya Prerna Foundation & SELCO for their generous donation of the Solar SMART Classroom System, which will be of immense benefit to the students..There are about 90 children in the school, all tribals from surrounding villages. The school is proud to be the first Tribal School in Coimbatore to get a SMART Classroom.
V.ParthaSarathy, Managing Trustee, DPF inaugurated the System & switched on the TV. Mr Nambirajan, then gave a full Demo of the System features, keenly observed by the students & teachers.
In his address Sri V.ParthaSarathy, explained the origin of the Trust & its activities. He welcomed DPF being given a good opportunity to serve such an institution, and be of good service to the tribal community in a remote mountainous area. He told them “SMART class systems used in high-end Metro schools, like in Mumbai have now been brought to your own remote school in the mountains, and you should make best use of the system & learn well”
He said that the SMART system gives them the Knowledge of the World, but it is also necessary to gain knowledge of how to lead One’s Life in the “dharmic” or righteous way, “Thirukkural” by the renowned Tamil Saint Poet Thiruvalluvar shows the way – and quoted the couplet – “ Avoid these 4 bad habits of Jealousy, Lust, Anger & Hurtful speech to live the righteous path in life”
The same has been preached by Bhagavan SriKrishna to Arjuna in Bhagavad Geetha. He exhorted the children to follow these golden words & “dream big” to achieve greatness in their lives.

Sri Nambirajan, SELCO explained the features of the System, and indicated that a Training course for the Teachers to use the system optimally is also being organized. Sri Vigneshwaran, SM Coimbatore Region, SELCO complimented the children for getting the most modern computer system for learning & the teachers & students should make best use of the System.
Smt Sumathi & Smt Parvathi of the ADI (Adivasis Development Initiative) Federation of Coimbatore spoke thanking DPF & SELCO, and expressing their thanks for bringing such modern learning methods to the Tribal people. Sri Lakshman, Coordinator of ADI who played an active role in bringing this SMART class to Kopaneri, was felicitated by all on the dias, for his selfless dedication.
Later the children gave a presentation of their talents, in the form of music & dance, to the audience which was entertaining.
The function concluded with the Vote of Thanks by a Teacher of the school.
